Drawing Workshops for Kids
I not only enjoy entertaining children through my artwork, but I also like to teach, inspire and encourage them with what I know when it comes to illustration. Kids love to draw and colour. They enjoy participating in anything creative. That's why I've taken it upon myself to host workshops and events that teach and guide kids on how to draw. I've been able to do this through events held at Chapters/Indigo bookstores across Toronto, as well as made appearances in elementary schools and libraries. I also had the opportunity to host some drawing videos online, through the company I was with, Webkinz.
It's not just a matter of getting up there on your easel and just start drawing. You have to engage kids with what you are doing. Explain to them why you are doing things, the techniques, how to do it, and also let them know that if they come up with a different or better way that works for them, do it! Also you need to make it entertaining for them. You don't need to put on a show, but make it fun. If you are into it, they will be too. The key to teaching art is not to set any boundaries. Give them the basics and the tools, and then they will take flight in their own way. It's a wonderful thing to see what they can come up with.
